Marcus Eriksen is the co-founder and director of research for the 5 Gyres Institute. He has been on more than 20 ocean-crossing expeditions, written and published research on the impact of plastic pollution in the world's oceans, and authored Junk Raft about a trip from Los Angeles to Hawaii and My River Home: A Journey from the Gulf War to the Gulf of Mexico.
