What if saving water at an industrial scale didn’t mean sacrificing growth — but actually made it possible?

In Arizona, Intel’s water reuse system is proving just how far existing technology can go. By rethinking how water is treated and reused on site, the company is recovering 98% of its water and 96% of its brine, saving more than five billion gallons since the system was implemented. That kind of efficiency isn’t just good for water resilience — it’s enabling economic growth in one of the most water-stressed regions in the country.

As data centers expand and industrial manufacturing moves back onshore, this case shows that water reuse can be a competitive advantage, not a constraint. In fact, Intel’s reuse investments helped make it possible to bring 9,000 jobs to Arizona — a clear example of how smart water strategies support both sustainability and workforce development.
