Utilities and community-based organizations are teaming up to ensure safe, affordable drinking water and thriving waterways, achieving far more together than alone—as highlighted in the Building Blocks of Trust project, which spotlights nine inspiring collaborations.
Take Tucson Water and the Sonora Environmental Research Institute: by joining forces, they've expanded access to rainwater cistern programs, empowering residents to harvest water for tree-planting that combats urban heat and boosts climate resilience.
Through targeted outreach, more Tucson families now tap into these tools, turning everyday homes into fortresses against extreme weather.
“Our utilities and community organizations that are working together in partnership to be able to address those challenges, and they're able to achieve more by working together than if they were working separately,” shares Ingle.
