In a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are being rolled back across government and other sectors, Crystal Davis of the National Parks Conservation Association says the responsibility to protect equitable access to nature now falls even more on advocates and nonprofit leaders.
She stresses that too many communities still face barriers to the parks and spaces that others take for granted — and that authentic equity work means intentional partnerships, accountability, and refusing to step back even when government does.
