What's Your Favorite Body Of Water?

The ocean wins as the people’s choice. 🌊

For this episode of Water Street Questions, we hit the sidewalk outside the Reservoir Center in Washington, D.C., with a simple assignment: name your favorite type of water body — and tell us why.

The result wasn’t particularly close.

The ocean dominated, earning votes for its beauty, breeze, serenity and sheer mystery. One respondent loves looking at it — but absolutely does not want to be on a boat. Another decided a lake might be preferable after considering everything potentially swimming beneath the surface.

And then came the most practical answer of the day:

“A bottle of water.”

Fair enough.

Oceans cover roughly 71% of Earth’s surface, shape weather and climate, support extraordinary ecosystems and connect communities around the globe. But sometimes our relationship with water is much simpler: a view, a memory, a place to swim — or just something cold to drink.
